Cambridge Parliamentary Hustings 2015: Post show

Tonight saw an event which a lot of people worked incredibly hard to make a success. After weeks of planning, Cam FM and the Cambridge Union Society co-hosted a parliamentary hustings at the Union, attended by Julian Huppert (Liberal Democrats), Daniel Zeichner (Labour), Chamali Fernando (Conservative), Rupert Read (Green) and Patrick O'Flynn (Ukip).

As well as the packed-out audience in the chamber, the event was broadcast live in a satellite venue at Anglia Ruskin University, and on Cam FM for listeners at home. Amatey Doku (Cam FM) and Oliver Mosley (CUS) did a great job keeping the PPCs in check, and all the many behind-the-scenes people made sure it all went pretty much without a hitch.

Afterwards, I was really excited to be hosting the hustings post-show, grilling some of the big players on the Cambridge student political scene. It was my first time presenting a whole live radio show, which was daunting (!), and we were kept on out toes by guests arriving late (or not arriving at all), but, all in all, it went really well!

Geordie Shore at the Union

*clears throat* *assumes Geordie accent*

On Friday, I had the inestimable pleasure of interviewing Vicky, Gaz and James from MTV's Geordie Shore for Cam FM, after their (somewhat surprising) stint at the Cambridge Union Society.

Listen below. We play a game. It does not go well. Hear me cringe.

Katie Hopkins

On Wednesday, I interviewed none other than Rent-a-Gob herself, Katie Hopkins, on behalf of Cam FM, before her appearance at the Cambridge Union Society. As first celebrity interviews go, it was basically terrifying. Hazel Shearing and I sat down with her, and even got a Rolo from her bag at the end, for our trouble.* Just call us Phillip and Holly. And then listen below.

*The Rolo was voluntarily given. I feel this should be made clear.
